Discovery of Margam Roman Villa, Port Talbot
The buried remains of the largest Roman villa in Wales have been detected and mapped using ground-penetrating radar by a team of archaeologists from Swansea University. Lying hidden in the sub-soil of Margam Park the villa is thought to date from early in the Roman occupation of Britain during the 1st millennium. No excavation has taken place to date but given the extent of the villa complex there are ambitions to discover more.
