About the Book
The Dolaucothi Gold Mines: Geology and Mining History
Describes the location of mine workings at Dolaucothi and the detailed surveys that have established the extensive Roman adits and leat systems used to exploit the gold during the occupation and in association with the nearby fort at Pumsaint. Despite the mine workings being known it was not until the 1850's that the rediscovery of the exact nature of the ore led to new workings being opened in the 1870's and again more extensively in the 1930's. These industrial remains are discussed in association with archive photographs taken on the site in 1938. Large format paperback. 62 pages. Illustrated throughout with b&w photographs, location maps and site plans. Includes a Glossary and Bibliography. Good clean condition. Cat No 3814
