About the Book

Describes how the C16th Kelmscott Manor, its contents, and surrounding estate, came into the guardianship of the Society of Antiquaries following the collapse of the ownership bequest to the University of Oxford made in 1926 by May Morris, William Morris’ daughter, a bequest under which the university felt financially burdened and which foundered ultimately on legal technicalities relating to the bequest wording.  Includes a Kelmscott map, four b&w photographs and an inventory of house contents (most with Morris asscoiations).  20 pages.  Good clean condition.
