About the Book

An elegant guide to the history of the former St. Bernard's Chapel in Esslingen and its preservation as an historical monument. Historical, restoration and art-historical investigations have shown that the building that survives today dates from the 1st third of the 15th century. The individual articles deal with its historical context of as well as with the history of the building itself, the discovery of the wall paintings and the iconography of the depictions. Other contributions present the current conservation measures resulting in re-purposing the building as a community centre.  A wealth of excellent colour photographs accompany the German text.  Includes a bibliography.  Paperback.  96 pages.  In new condition.  Cat No 4726
