Mythical Beast on the Bayeux Tapestry Border

Opening to the public on the 10th September and running through to July 2027 the Bayeux Tapestry returns to England for the first time in almost 1000 in a loan exhibition at the British Museum.  We have several books for sale on this medieval embroidery including this French guide to life in the C11th according to scenes in the tapestry – ‘La vie au XI siècle sous Guillaume le Conquérant d'après la Tapissérie de Bayeux’; a special edition of the National Geographic devoted to the tapestry – ‘The Norman Conquest 900 Years Ago: the Bayeux Tapestry Complete in Color’; and perhaps, most significantly, a scarce publication exploring, not the main scenes of the embroidery, but the bestiary and fable animals depicted in the upper and lower border friezes, – ‘Les Fables antiques de la broderie de Bayeux’
