A cache of Roman bronze artefacts uncovered by metal detectorists in West Gloucestershire is currently undergoing conservation and research at the British Museum.  The hoard appears to have been deliberately deposited with many of the items having been broken beforehand but, fortunately, not the remarkable ‘licking’ dog thought to be a healing totem possibly associated with a nearby Roman shrine at Lydney Park and the first of its kind to be found in Britain.   Images of the finds can be viewed here

Gloucester Museum contains a collection of Roman stone altars, including from the Forest of Dean, a catalogue of which may be purchased from Last Edition: Romano-British Sculptures in the Gloucester City Museum
