About the Book

A surprisingly thorough history of the phases of settlement on the Isle of Man from Neolithic times through the Iron Age with many excellent drawings of standing stones and hillforts, and the stone and metal implements recovered from the many sites across the island.  The earliest Christian influence is characterised by a wealth of Celtic stone crosses illustrated and with location information provided.  A lengthy section on the Viking occupation of the island is accompanied by drawings of decorated grave slabs and the iconography depicted.  Final chapters deal with the early churches, abbeys and castles dating from the medieval period.  Paperback.  80 pages.  Good clean condition.  Cat No 4776
