About the Book

Describes a series of rare fifteenth-century embroideries illustrating scenes from the life of Saint Martin (316–397). The embroideries were probably designed by artists (several hands have been identified) from France or the Lowlands during the early fifteenth century. Thirty-seven embroideries are known and are dispersed across several public and private collections. They are brought together in this book and described in the context of medieval Burgundian life. Hardback in good clean condition in a slightly worn dustjacket. Cat No 1871.
