A large format album of the incomparable  frescoes adorning several large walls of the Siena Palazzo Pubblico  and completed by two C14th artists - including Simone Martini's huge 'Maesta or Madonna with Angels and Saints' and opposite this his  'Equestrian Portrait of Guidoriccio da Fogliano' followed by Ambrogio Lorenzetti's 'Allegory and Effects of Good and Bad Government'.  Twenty-four excellent colour photographs of the frescoes (complete and in detail) are preceded by a seven-page introductory essay (in English), biographical notes on the artists. and a bibliography.  In card covers with illustrated dustjacket.  Slight bumping to dustjacket corners due to the size of the book, otherwise good clean condition.  Cat No 4358
