Extensively illustrated guidebook that tells the history of this Benedictine monastery in South-Eastern France founded in the C11th upon the relics of St Anthony brought by crusaders from Constantinople.  The monks were noted for their ability to provide medicine and curative interventions for a range of medieval ills, in particular ergot poisoning (St Anthony’s fire).  The gothic grandeur of the abbey is depicted alongside its muniments and frescoes.  Paperback.  34 pages.  Text in French.  New condition.  Cat No 3720
