About the Book

Describes the history of the Russian printed shawl derived in the C18th from imported cashmere shawls, its labour intensive block printing in the C19th, and its large scale production by screen printing during the 1950's.  A large album of 120 colour photographs illustrate the evolution of designs and a wide variety of exuberant examples.  Text and captions are dual-language - English and Russian.  Other than a neat gift inscription the book is in new condition and comes in its original decorated slipcase.   Cat No 3260
