About the Book
Persepolis Illustrated
Probably the single most comprehensive guide to Persepolis written by the leading authority of Archaemenid culture and one-time Professor of Archaeology at Shiraz University before moving to the USA to teach at Columbia University. This book covers in great detail the history of the construction of the Persepolis monuments, their symbolism and purpose. Working through each building individually the author provides descriptions of extant remains from an archaeologist's viewpoint. A lengthy Appendix of maps, site plans and fold-out architectural drawings also includes b&w photographs and eight large full-colour plates. This copy also includes, as a loose insert, a very large fold-out plan of the Persepolis Terrace published by the University of Chicago. Signed dedication from the author on the title page, very minor signs of wear, but generally good clean condition. Cat No 3914
