About the Book

The Villa Poppaea (aka 'Oplontis') is an ancient luxurious Roman seaside villa buried and preserved in the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, like the nearby cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii, The quality of the decorations and construction suggests that it was owned by the Emperor Nero. It was marked out as being especially luxurious sumptuously with marble columns and large wall paintings many of which are illustrated in excellent colour photographs in this book.  Large paperback.  48 pages.  New condition.
