Single lot auction catalogue for a very large Ming dynasty butter lamp, made for a Buddhist temple in China or Tibet with an inscription showing that it was manufactured during the reign of the emperor Jingtai, who reigned from 1450-1456. No comparable piece is known in the West.  It sold for £1.3m.  Paperback.  64 pages. Includes an extensive description of the lamp regarding material, form, date, provenance, publication and past exhibitions.  Many excellent colour plates plus essays on the history, manufacture and purpose of such lamps.  Text in English and Chinese.  Very good condition.  Cat No n33
