A comprehensive exhibition catalogue of C15th and c16th miniatures from the extensive collection held by the Vatican library.  An introductory essay on the history of the collection precedes a listing of 160 miniatures each with detailed descriptions regarding date, original codex provenance, subject matter, and materials used.  Thirty-one b&w illustrations follow the text as do two colour illustrations.  Other than a very small stain to the fore-edge the book is in good clean condition for its age and contains an attractive small bookplate by noted woodblock engraver Kenneth Lindley.  Cat No 4724
