About the Book

The Livre d’Aneaux was a pattern book of ornamental jewellery published in 1561 by jeweller to the royal families of Lorraine and France and is the fullest record of the Fontainebleu style as applied to the smallest yet most symbolic of jewels.  This book reproduces the forty designs as they appeared in the original, drawing on one of the few extant copies now preserved in the Bodleian library Oxford.  A short introductory essay and bibliography precede the illustrations.  Hardback.  54 pages.  New condition.  Cat No  4715
