A detailed inventory of all prehistoric standing stones in the County of Léon on the extreme Western peninsular of Brittany which is notably rich is such monuments.  Lengthy descriptions of each monument, many with accompanying drawings, are grouped according to location.  This long list is preceded by a discussion regarding the types found and their various geographic concentrations.  An appendix prints, for the first time, the 1926 manuscript written by amateur archaeologist Etienne Morel who drew attention to the very imposing 'stele' at Locmaria-Plouzané, and others nearby, which show clear signs of having been Christianized through re-shaping and the addition of a carved cross, illustrations of which accompany his text.  Text throughout in French.  Large paperback.  106 pages.  In very good clean condition.  Cat No 4744
