In the C13th the Kamakura Shogunate constructed a 20km rock bulwark to thwart Mongol invasions from the West. The Imazu section still stands and is designated a National Historic Monument. This is a detailed excavation report illustrated with photographs of various wall sections showing their trench foundations and stone packing.
