About the Book

An illustrated exhibition catalogue documenting the hunting of animals during the Palaeolithic and the representation of the hunted animals in Palaeolithic art compared to actual excavated fossils, with particular focus on the scarce three-dimensional carvings of animals recovered from Palaeolithic cave sites.  Includes a gazetteer of sites mentioned in the text, with additional notes on each, and a bibliography of cited references.  Text in German.  Paperback.  100 pages.  Appropriately enough, this copy comes from the library of deceased wildlife artist Hubert Pepper who published on the depiction of reindeer in Palaeolithic art and was given this book by palaeoanthropologist Prof Mikael Fortelius of Helsinki University who has written a signed dedication to Pepper on the flyleaf.   Good clean condition.  Cat No 3846
