A catalogue of the finest private collection of early Islamic carpets gathered during the last half of the C20th and subsequently dispersed to museum's around the world but brought together one last time for this exhibition at the Hayward Gallery.  Forty-nine colour plates illustrate the finest examples of Mamluk, Mughal, Persian, Turkish, Turkman and Mongol carpets with descriptions of each written by the collector.  An essay on 'Western Attittudes to Eastern Carpets' and another on the 'Making of Carpets' precede the catalogue entries.  Large paperback.  60 pages.  Minor signs of age, otherwise good clean condition.  Cat No  4479
