About the Book

A large album of colour photographs depicting the ancient city of Dunhuang in the far North-West of China and known as an important staging point on the Silk Road. The large illustrations show its temples and pagodas. as well as the famous Caves of the Thousand Buddhas at  Mogao and the many other Buddhist grottoes nearby.  Also shown are the cave murals and some of the C13th manuscripts discovered in the walled-up 'library' cave in the early C20th.  Dual language captions - Chinese and English.  Hardback in illustrated dustjacket.  98 pages.  Good clean condition.  Cat No 4477.
