About the Book

For 30 years, the archaeology-loving divers of Anao on the Côte d’Azur have been salvaging sunken treasures in the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer. These items tell of the life of sailors on the trade routes of the Western Mediterranean during the C16th to C18th.  Each year, ceramics, glass and other artefacts lost or discarded by their owners reappear over the course of archaeological campaigns carried out by a band of enthusiasts keen to protect this maritime heritage.  These objects rescued from the waters are on permanent display in the Menton Museum in the exhibition - Treasures of Wreck, the Maritime Routes of the Mediterranean - which this attractive illustrated book complements.  Paperback.  109 pages. Text in French.  New condition. Cat No 3719
