About the Book

A collation of entries from the notebooks of Count Cozio di Salabue whose observations regarding the secrets of the C16th Cremona workshops preserve facts regarding violin making would otherwise be lost to us.  Important aspects regarding jointing, ribbing, arching and varnishing of violins are acompanied by sketches from the notebooks.   A list of luthiers with dates, including Stradivari and Amati, is included as an Appendix, as is a Bibliography.  Hardback.  85 pages.  A little spotting and light staining affects a few pages, otherwise the book is in very good condition.  This is a Proof copy of the limited edition and signed as such by the author.  Cat No 3711
