About the Book

Written by a resident of Port Stanley this booklet describes fifteen historic wrecks visible to him in Port Stanley harbour namely: Capricorn (1829), Jhelum (1849), Margaret (1850), Actaeon (1838), Charles Cooper (1856), William Shand 1839, Snow Squall (1851), Egeria (1858), Fleetwing (1874), Afterglow (1918), Golden Chance (1914), Lady Elizabeth (1879), Plym (1903), Samson 1888), SS Great Britain (1843).  The history of each ship is given alongside a drawing of its wrecked state, plus a map of the harbour showing wreck locations.  This is the original 1973 National Maritime Museum edition with an Introduction by the Museum’s director who was instrumental in conserving the wreck of the Great Britain.  Paperback.  33 pages.  Good condition.  Cat No 4342
