About the Book
A Catalogue of British and Irish Prehistoric Bronzes in the Royal Ontario Museum
A catalogue of the surprisingly large collection of British and Irish Bronze Age weapons held by the Ontario Museum and purchased over several years in the early C20th from antiquities dealers, collectors and go-betweens. Well represented are axes, palstaves, spearheads, knives and swords. Each is drawn and described in terms of their appearance, condition, previous owner and provenance (several having been dredged from the Thames). An essay on metallurgical analysis of the collection and an extensive Bibliography follow the main catalogue. Large hardback. 80 pages. Some minor external signs of age but internally good clean condition. Bears the bookplate of noted archaeologist Paul Ashbee. Cat No 3655
