Ireland contains over fifty stone castles built by the Anglo-Norman invaders in the period 1180-1320, hundreds of tower houses built from the 1420’s to the time of Cromwell’s invasion of 1649 and about a hundred stronghouses built on confiscated lands in the C16th and C17th.  Most of these buildings have been in ruins since the C18th.  This book describes the architecture and history of around 300 castles and tower houses complementing each entry with 120 photographs and 240 plans, many drawings and four location maps.  Paperback.  160 pages.  Good clean condition.  Cat No 3820
