The ancient Hittite city of Carchemish sited on the Euphrates was excavated several times in the early C20th, but a recent collaboration between the universities of Durham and Edinburgh resulted in the first extensive survey using advanced remote sensing techniques of, not only the inner city, but also the outer settlements and its immediate hinterland, resulting in the identification of eighty new sites.  This volume presents the project’s findings from five years of research in great detail with complementary photographs, maps and site plans.  Large hardback.  238 pages.  New condition.  Cat No 4295
