About the Book

An extraordinarily comprehensive catalogue of more than 200 Capings held by the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur.  Each is illustrated by a b&w photograph with a lengthy detailed description of form and decoration.  Capings are heart shaped modesty discs worn by small children to hide the pubic area usually of silver but occasionally gold.  Most of the examples illustrated date from the C19th and the fashion fell out of favour in the early C20th.  Paperback.  124 pages.
