About the Book
British Breweries: An Architectural History
In contrast to other historic industrial buildings such as mills and warehouses, breweries have received little attention from architectural historians. This book remedies that neglect. This account ranges from C18th brewhouses of country estates to the great breweries of Georgian and Victorian England, which reached their ornate peak in the 1880s and 1890s. Although a number are still in use or converted to other uses, many have sadly been demolished. The author has included a gazetteer of brewery architecture and many photographs and archive documents. Hardback. 256 pages. Signed by the author on the title page, otherwise in new condition. Cat No 3733
