About the Book
The Art Colony of Gödöllő 1901-1920
A beautifully produced book commemorating the art nouveau artists of Gödöllő who were active in all fields of art creating paintings and graphic art, book illustrations, designing churches and secular tapestries, stained glass and frescoes. Their works were inspired by nature, gardens and the Gnosticism of the English Pre-Raphaelites, such as the art of John Ruskin and William Morris. Gödöllő was close enough to Budapest, yet far enough away to escape into nature where the artists lived as a commune and workshop collective. The full range of their history and output is featured in archive photographs and excellent colour photographs. Large Paperback. 36 pages. In near new condition. Cat No 4692e
