About the Book

When the blackhouse at No 42 Arnol in the Isle of Lewis was vacated in the 1960's it was entrusted to State care and today remains as a last link to a lost tradition.  Two aspects of a blackhouse make it different to a modern house - it was a residence for both people and animals, and it had no chimney.  This book explains the benefits of such living and the structure and use of the building and its rooms.  Paperback.  56 pages.  Excellent colour photographs.  New condition.  Cat No 2830
