Aphek was the city capital of the Canaanites until its subjugation by the Egyptians under Amenhotep II in the C15th BC from when it was ruled by an Egyptian governor whose palace excavation is reported here. The buildings uncovered are reconstructed and a wealth of pottery, weapons, jewellery hieroglyphic seals and cuneiform tablets recovered from the site are illustrated in colour and b&w plates.
